Synopsis
An anthology film explores the human conditions, living in the city of dreams.
Para navigates through the city of Los(t) Angeles, with multiple characters facing the question of where they belong to the City of Angels.
This film starts with the frustration of writer, Tae Yoon Lee, as he witnesses the city of Los(t) Angeles, declining. Homelessness. Violence. Safety issues. Rich get richer, poor gets poorer. Once this was the place of beauty, kindness, energy fueled by dreamers, who come to LA to aspire, creating diverse cultures into the melting pot of the city, the city has been replaced with an isolation, an individualism and a lack of community bond.
Why do we no longer care for each other in Los Angeles? As Tae Yoon Lee writes down on the papers with his poetic approaches, he creates with the story and characters, facing the challenge of Money and fame can distance us from a true sense of belonging. There is a character, standing on the marginalized spaces, and we refuse to see that. We reject their existence. And Para, in Greek word, meaning “Next to, Beside, Side by Side,” brings a lens to that side of Los Angeles. Brining those people into our spaces. Dwelling place. So we can learn from each other.
The movie 'Para' speaks about our lives in the city of LA, exploring what we are originally created for and meant to lean on each other’s shoulders.
